Cockroach

Cockroaches belong to the order Dictyoptera and family Blattidae in insect taxonomy. They have inhabited Earth for as long as 350 million years, making them one of the oldest insects. Currently, there are over 5,000 known species, divided into domestic and wild species. Wild species make up the vast majority of this order, mostly living in grass, leaf litter, gravel, or under tree bark. Some also live in the nests of ants, termites, bees, and other insects, generally having little contact with humans. Domestic species that become sanitary pests account for approximately 0.5% of this order, primarily belonging to the families Blattidae, Blattidae, and Blattidae.

 Termites

Termites have soft, flat bodies that can range from white, yellowish-yellow, auburn, or dark brown, with coloration varying between species. They can be long-winged, short-winged, or wingless. Winged termites are reproductives, flying out to mate and reproduce between April and July. After a short flight, their wings detach through distinctive transverse seams at the base. After shedding, they choose nearby soil or wooden furniture to build their nests. They reproduce rapidly, with an adult queen producing approximately 10,000 larvae daily. Queens can live up to 30 years. Termites are a type of phylogenetic with incomplete metamorphosis and a complex life cycle. Termites can be divided into three categories based on their living habits. First, wood-dwelling termites: colonies of varying sizes build nests in hollowed-out areas of wooden structures, such as wooden doors and windows, wooden floors, wooden houses, railroad ties, wooden bridges, and dead trees. They feed on wood fiber and are a serious pest of wood products. Wood hollowing can easily lead to building collapse. Infested railroad ties shorten their lifespan and pose a significant threat to traffic safety. The second type is soil-dwelling termites: they build their nests in the soil below the ground, or in tower-like structures above the ground, called termite mounds. Soil-dwelling termites feed on trees, leaves, fungi, and other items. The third type is amphibious, and these termites are the most widespread and most harmful of household termites. They can nest in the soil or in the gaps between brick walls, or in wood or the roots and trunks of living trees; or they can do both, meaning that part of a colony is in the soil and part is in wood. Their habitats and feeding grounds are sometimes the same, sometimes not, but they are relatively close. These termite colonies are complex, with fixed nest structures and large numbers of individuals, ranging from thousands to hundreds of thousands.

Mosquitoes

Mosquitoes often harass humans and animals, suck blood, and spread a variety of diseases, earning them the title of one of the “Four Pests.” There are numerous mosquito species, with over 2,000 known worldwide, and over 300 discovered in my country. Mosquitoes belong to the class Insecta, order Diptera, and family Culicidae. The three genera most closely associated with humans are Anopheles, Culex, and Aedes. Over ten species are commonly found in homes; they are classified as Diptera and family Culicidae.

The harmfulness of mosquitoes: With a few exceptions, most mosquitoes are blood-sucking. Their bites can transmit a variety of diseases, posing a significant threat to human health.

  Ant

When considering pests commonly found in food processing plants, ants usually rank lower than cockroaches, flies, stored product pests, spiders, or rodents. However, ants are abundant around the exterior of nearly any building, including food facilities. While most colonies remain outdoors, certain species may enter a food plant when conditions are favorable—seeking food, water, or new nesting sites. Some species, such as the Pharaoh ant, can establish infestations indoors after being accidentally brought in through boxes, packaging, or other incoming materials.

 Flies

Flies are one of the “Four Pests.” They are vectors of numerous infectious and parasitic diseases. Because flies have many fine hairs on their bodies and legs, when they feed on dirt like feces and sputum, they pick up pathogens and parasite eggs from their bodies and legs. When they then fly onto people’s food, they transmit these pathogens. Flies also attract scents and odors, vomiting (dribble) and defecating as they feed, contaminating food with the germs in their bodies. When people eat food that has been touched by flies, they are more susceptible to illness if their immune system is compromised. Flies can spread cholera, paracholera, dysentery, typhoid fever, poliomyelitis, infectious hepatitis, trachoma, ascariasis, and other diseases. Fly larvae parasitize sores and can develop myiasis.

Bee

Modify indoor and outdoor environments to create a less favorable environment for flea breeding. Install rodent-proofing in buildings to prevent entry of rodents, feral cats, and other animals. Eliminate all areas where fleas may breed. Fleas live in crevices, carpets, and bedding during the day. If a room is thoroughly cleaned or vacuumed, flea swarms will be less likely to appear. Dispose of dust in vacuum bags immediately to prevent flea eggs and pupae from becoming a further threat.
